Kemi Ashing-Giwa

Kemi Ashing-Giwa is a senior concentrating in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology with a secondary in Astrophysics. She is working on a multidisciplinary senior thesis project in the Pearson and Girguis labs. This research involves analyzing sedimentary archaea to characterize chemoorganoautotrophic metabolism at cold methane seeps—a terrestrial analogue for possible environments on moons with subsurface oceans (such as Europa and Enceladus). Outside of class and the lab, she enjoys reading and writing science fiction.
